Did any one here go to college for music? You can't really learn talent or good ideas but I've been thinking of getting back into community college and taking mostly creative classes/ skill classes like music production.
I'm not focused on finishing but I figure it's a good way to be able to work on my craft, make connections and be able to bounce ideas off people. Getting money to live off a Pell Grant to supplement Corona pay. Go to school to stay productive and work on music in your free time

I never went to college (for music), and most other greats in music didn't. literally a waste of time; discover music yourself. The more formulaic your understanding of music (making) becomes, the less creative you'll be

You didn't read a f***ing thing

I mean, sure, go for it.

not myself, but my friend did it just to learn music theory & a bit more of the "professional" way to go about engineering.
he did only one or two semesters, but it was valuable for him music theory wise. learned to play keys in a classical way pretty decently which is more than valuable for music production especially in Rap & can get you by with a lot.
it helped him along with myself (we're kinda like a duo with our own strengths & techniques) getting in at a studio & taken a bit more seriously too.
it seems worth it as long as you dont f*** around, not expecting too much & know why you're going.

That's exactly the type of experience I was hoping to hear. Thanks man.

School is too ridged for me. It’s hard to find real friends in music. Ppl are just tryna get on without giving back.
Ppl’s feedback won’t be genuine or make room for innovation.
For example, I hated speakerknockerz when he first dropped. I was wrong. Very wrong. I use parts of his sound even today.
Imagine if speakerknockerz went to school. We wouldn’t have Roddy rich.
But do whatever works for u especially if u can use feedback as a way to understand the person giving it more than it just being a reflection of u.
That's exactly the type of experience I was hoping to hear. Thanks man.
no problem & good luck to you
