it blows my mind that we hear all these horrific stories of prison and the only response is "shouldnt have done the crime"

prison is way too violent and disorderly. even if u did a crime the punishment is being locked out of life for some insane period of time, the punishment shouldnt also include constant paranoia due to being at the whims of mentally insane ultra violent gang members who will never see the light of day

imagine someone who sold like idk weed or someone who got falsely convicted, its a human rights violation to put those same people in with violent people. like yea r kelly definitely deserves whatever but in general theres a problem with american prison culture that is way 2 overlooked

very true, and I think the fact that they are criminals (violent or not) just leads to people dehumanizing them. prisoners deserve rights too, they shouldn't be treated as slaves or as disposable. idk, it's f***ed up!

Its so bad that even people who work at prisons are regularly in danger. I heard a story of a prison staff member getting stabbed in the eye, its dudes making bioweapons throwing acid on other ppl, f***ing insanity
