12 Play is the most overrated R&B album of all time with those s***ty Dr Dre impersonations all over it
Thats such a lil part of the album lol n this such a big lie
N he stopped rapping for the most part after that album
Ignition remix is literally a mid song to me and I'm someone who thinks musically R. Kelly is top 15-20 OAT
Song reeks of some of the bad parts of R. Kelly musically, which is him when he's trying to stay with the times
The Pied Piper (such a nasty alias ) was very much still at the forefront of RnB when Ignition Remix dropped.
None of my relatives have listened to him so I don’t have nostalgia bias and he really is okay at best. Not bad but nothing astonishing. Ignition remix is 6/10 max
Literally has nothing to due with nostalgia & bro has written n produced for so many people legends n all while being a big music inspriation for so many late 2000s n early 2010s singers
He's illiterate but can still "write" music by doing freestyle-like recordings before it was even a thing too n still able to play real instruments even tho he cant read music sheets
But yeah, bro is only talented with people that grew up with him LMAO
Talented people have the capacity to do vile and nasty things. Trying to do this revisionist history stuff, is detrimental in the long run. It just gives leeway for there to be another R Kelly.
R kelly's music has got me through some pretty difficult times, although his actions do make me feel very different about his music.
songs like i wish, the world's greatest, if i could turn back the hands of time, i'm your angel, ect really prove that he can write the most beautiful and uplifting songs. No other r&b singer has touched on grief or trying to find strength the same way he has. guy is so crazy talented.
Bro had a few hit songs that were good, that's it. Not a classic album to his name (a few good ones though), and he is frankly a mediocre vocalist. As far as 90s R&B is concerned Ginuwine mops the goddamn floor with R. Kelly as a vocalist, as do Jodeci, Boyz II Men, D'Angelo of course, Maxwell, Usher, Joe, s*** even 90s MJ was running laps around R. Kelly, as was Prince.
Dude's name other than the "Ignition Remix", literally one f***in song, barely came up since the late 2000s. He gets caught up being a serial pedophile, and now people are worried about cancel culture and artistic legacy. Where was this energy in like 2017? Who the f*** was checking for R. Kelly after like 2008? What's the game gonna miss, his Jay Z collab albums? His mid Stevie Wonder impressions?
R. Kelly always been a half assed artist and the reason his music is going to be forgotten is because it's forgettable music.
He wrote and produced a number 1 hit record for Michael Jackson.
His production discography alone is legendary
You can justifiably hate him but to say he was never that good is lying.
The reason he got away with the heinous s*** he did was because of the music being good. By the 2000s he was already blackballed by publications but he was still finding success and collaborations.
They had us singing this in elementary
!https://youtu.be/ssqOJ0s71S0Damn this song had me so emotional as a kid . I mentally vaulted this until now
That man made Half On a Baby, You Remind Me of Something, Your Body's Callin, It Seems Like You're Ready, Feeling on Yo Booty etc. etc. etc. and y'all call him overrated
Look, he's an absolute POS but you just can't deny his talent. His voice was made for music and he has given us so many classics
R Kelly made all those songs without being able to read or write but OP saying he aint talented
OP got me defending R Kelly
Logging out bye
this thread title is enough for this site to lose all credibility. mofos are 16 year olds making these threads
good thing i have physical copies of his entire discography.
you will never cancel my goat
