1. He never earned much from his music to begin with, hence why he was broke even back in 2018. Also this is streaming, which is even worse than CDs & live shows.

2. Because he will be behind bars for a long time, he cannot enjoy any of the earnings he is entitled too anyway

3. Because of the legal process, it can be assumed that he will be subject to torts claim and pay for civil settlements after going to court for that, not to mention for his criminal defenders. You can assume he will lose most of what money he earns this way to various lawyers and to the victims

In the end, R Kelly would have been richer and better off without this case + publicity, so yes, it was bad publicity. He will bleed whatever money he gets out of his ass. Not to mention the fact he will get raped in some prison shower soon.

Even if you argue this way, R Kelly being free and able to tour and record would have probably earned the label more profits long-term than whatever short publicity boost this verdict has.
