Not to downplay it but doesnt a double disc count as 2 so if u sell 5 million u go diamond?
Still insane though, legendary interview. Pac best rapper ever
Outside of singles on radio and music vids actually buying an album via cassette or cd was pretty much the only way you was hearing s*** other than bootlegs and mixtapes
You literally had to pay for every album you listened to
All this discourse and opinions people have these days, you had to PAY to participate back then, just to hear what was going on
These days everyone listens to whatever they want whenever they want, s*** be getting billions of listens and it gets “converted” to 1 million “equivalent units” sold
2000s even crazier
Eminem literally had the most selling album of the whole decade

If an album “sells” 250k first week today that means it had 375 million streams
If an album sold 250k first week in the 90s that means it was literally purchased 250,000 times
I’d argue it’s more commercial today and the numbers are just rigged in a way that doesn’t reflect how many people are actually listening

1500 streams is a sale so considering at one point the average song was like 4 minutes long you gotta listen to an album for 100 hours for it to be a sale meaning idk if i personally even accounted for a single sale of an album through streaming in a given year
