COVID and NIL f***ed it up but there's never been an age limit. Some of my college teammates were damn near 30 when I was 17. First time I learned about Hawaiian mormons

For college sports it is lol - this is way different than music or a professional job etc.
You're athletic prime as a male is mid 20s to early 30s
If you just entering college at 25 you're running that generic clock up super high, by the time you're able to be picked for pro more likely you will be at the end of this prime or right on the cusp
Which means your chance of pro years is already burned for your genetic prime
Now there has been a few people that have been older that have gone pro or done great in college, but it's very rare we are talking less than a dozen iirc in total in both college and those even fewer that went pro
And football is also the most demanding (along with boxing/ufc and f1 racing) since you are constantly getting your body abused, which makes the genetic bio clock especially hard lined
He will probably do fine in college, but any going pro ideals is probably cut, or might just be a bench warmer for two years at best - if the less than a dozen outlier don't happen for him
Best thing for him would be for him to get an actual education in whatever professional job field while having fun playing college

Doubt he needs the money but for regular ppl want to chase they dreams NIL money legit makes it possible you don’t have to go to the league
