    Why Yesterday
    !https://youtu.be/fFT4tokkwl0

Idk how this came to be or whose it should be billed as but it was always weird to me that this exists

Original just a dr Dre 2001 leak called “like me” I believe dj vlad added a fairly uknown jay acapella onto for a mixtape of his and claimed it was a real collab

then game added a verse onto it and released it as a dre and hov collab on the g-unit radio tape (think thats where it first dropped at least). It’s 2 layers of fake.

The Max B talk reminded me of another one...

In 2008, Wale was making a buzz with his single Nike Boots. The song was so hot that it got an official remix from the hottest rapper at the time - Lil Wayne.

Max B made a unofficial "remix" of the official remix, taking off Wale and replacing him with himself and Freekey Zeekey. He left the Lil Wayne vocals. Alot going on here lol

    This was undeniably hip hop

Yeah rappers back in the day would do this s*** all the time until those copyright laws started putting in work

copyright laws (dj drama raid) killed mixtapes along with streaming

Maaan lmaooo this is a great one. She did it to Gucci on the same project.

Gucci vocals from the above song with Wale. On the streaming release, she had Gucci cleared as a sample

This one is a great story. Drake did this verse for Nicki Minaj. The open verse song somehow ended up in Tyga's hands who added a verse. When Nicki found out, she was kinda mad but agreed to use the Tyga verse as well - just told Tyga not to release/leak it. Tyga's frequent collaborator Mally Mall added a chorus to the song as well.

Then, some random The KiD Heat got the file with Drake, Tyga (who already added himself without permission) and Mally Mall, added his own verse and leaked it.

This started a "beef" between Nicki and Tyga that would last for a few years.

The song was eventually released with only the beat and Drake verse from the leaked version - along with verses from Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne - as Truffle Butter.
