How is 4 lines = damn near a whole verse? That's literally 1 bar in a 16 bar verse.

Where are you getting the number 4 from? It’s the first 6 bars and then also the 8th to 10th.

Also not sure you know how to count bars if you think 4 lines equals 1 bar lol. A bar is 2 snares (or claps) if you wanna listen back and count. Idk how you came to the conclusion that it was 1 bar out of 16, it’s actually almost 10 out of 16. Damn near the whole verse certainly

What Drake really used was the cadence of the verse. All in all, he used 4 lines out of that verse and the rest of the verse are his own lyrics.

Trying to act like he stole something when he was making an obvious reference/interlopolation to a very popular rap song is stupid.

I never said it was “stealing” or anything negative, I was just saying that this is more extensive than a usual interpolation which is usually like 1 or 2 bars. I guess you’re only counting lyrics but the whole first 10 bars is based on it as far as flow and structure. Even with your way of looking at it I’m seeing more than 4 lines that are close to identical with drake making minor changes. 5 out of the first 6 bars alone are pretty much the same with minor lyrical changes. In all I count like 7 bars that are basically identical

But this has been done several times in the past by countless rappers. It's not a new thing. Drake loves interpolating and he usually interpolates very popular rap records. Most recently, on Seeing Green, the "who you hugging, who you wanna be loving?" line is an interpolation of a line from a Lil Kim song.

Didn't he basically interpolate like 8 lines from Eminem's Superman on Chicago Freestyle? It's not something new. That's another popular record that people immediately recognized when the song dropped.

The point here is that 4-Tay is a clout-chasing idiot for still bringing this up. People who know their rap immediately knew where Drake's cadence was from back in 2014 when Who Do You Love dropped and they knew he was paying homage to that record. 4-Tay got paid that same year so this isn't something anyone should still be bringing up 8 years later.

Yea I’m not defending 4 tay’s behavior. And no it’s not new but the “who you huggin” one is a more typical example, the Em one is a hook so it’s slightly different, this who do you love verse stands out to me as one of the only times I’ve heard it done to that extent tho, I can’t recall another verse that uses as much or more of an old track, all im saying is this one ain’t a typical example to me, it’s a little different than the usual

Did the same thing with Look alive too as far as interpolation goes, among a host of other records.

To interpolate to the extent that Drake did on this record and not reach out to 4tay 1st is weird, but Drake compensated him years ago. Don't get why he brought this back up again
