Eazy E lowkey might've had the greatest eye for talent in rap history. The amount of legends he brought into the game is insane for such a short time. RIP

Ehhh....as someone that was big on eazy growing up im not sure bout that.

NWA was purely coincidence that him and dre were friends, dre brought in yella & cube but they built that so fair play

Above The Law, not sure if they were brought in by dre or eazy but they were solid but not stars.

JJ Fad - solid dre produced single for the time but thats really it. follow up album was really bad

MC Ren - major underachiever as a solo artist that they tried hard to push once dre & cube left but he didn't have it in him, early albums got some cool tracks tho

Michel'le - one poorly aged r&b album released on ruthless but did well but dre brought her in

The DOC - Great Album but again this was Dre that brought him in. You notice a major shift in quality of new acts once dre leaves

Bone Thugs - Defo struck gold with them

but thats really all you can say he had success with. Some cool underrated artists/albums that went under the radar - Menajahtwa album was solid af, dresta and knocc out were cool, solid album (didnt release under ruthless tho), Kokanes first album got a bit of a cult following so i'll give him that

Would say theres a whole lot of bad signings from eazy than good tbh, no real music experience before coming into the industry makes me question how good his ear for hearing undiscovered talent was. feels like a lot of ppl got on out of luck

Names like Tairrie B - tryna be the first mainstream white female rapper who just wasn't very good, Jimmy Z - Hip Hop Flute Player , Yomo & Maulkie - ????, HWA - Hoes With Attitude?? come on lol, Blood Of Abraham - unique for sure but idk about the actual quality here lol,

Genuinely might be worth making a thread about all the weird signing's eazy made once dre left lol

did dirty red actually release any music around that time? or is he only known for 2 to 3 features on eazy songs? he sounded good on a beat just never heard enough from him to have much of a impression of him.

u ever heard the Atbann Klann album? never got around to playing it. wonder if its worth a spin.

  • early 00's but ima throw it in there

Black Eyed Peas, Dre, Ren, Cube, BG, Dresta & Bone Thugs in such a short time span is insane to me

Was close to signing Pac too

This is such a stretch of the truth lol

  • Eazy didn't discover Dre's talent. they were friends, Dre was doing his own thing and eazy wanted to get out the d*** game and invested in what Dre was doing and dre brought cube in. I'll give him credit for putting his money in and believing but dre & yella were doing music on a fairly good level for the local LA market and dre was working with cube before eazy so he came along.

BG & Dresta were cool. I like them but its not a legacy defining discovery that bone thugs was. they were Just some good LA rappers that worked with eazy.

they weren't Black Eyed Peas, they were atban klann. different line up. cool that he discovered them that early on but ruthless clearly hadn't developed them into anything special yet. i'll give him credit for seeing potential even if that wasn't fully developed yet.

Also he was in talks to singing thug life not pac solo (damn near 3 years into pacs career) dont think we can give him too much credit for nearly singing pacs side project when he was already living off i get around/poetic justice fame. also was a distribution deal no? still through interscope but they just didn't want to distribute it? (maybe im wrong on that idk) either way ruthless passed on it (likely didn't have the money for them)

  • Anybody post some Dre Dog aka Andre Nickatina yet?

He was absolutely massive in my small pnw canadian town for some reason and I could never figure out how it happened lol. I collected the Source and XXL for years and never saw him mentioned once but he was just as big as Eminem and s*** to us.
