Everyone’s entitled to their opinion on how to critique music but I personally think it’s unfair to knock points off a project just because it doesn’t hit like it once did.

You’re not the same age, music especially rap is constantly evolving, and so many other factors as to why that’s not a valid thing to do

Ranking music on how it hit you relatively around the time it came out is a more fair assessment

Agree to disagree but it's the same logic as when an album grows on you

I hated Yeezus when it first came out
Now it's probably one of my favorite albums ever.

I loved take care when it first came out. Now I don't feel the same anymore.

Meanwhile nwts and if you're reading this are still amazing to me.

I'm a different person and so the music just doesn't resonate with me or sound as good comparitively to all the music I've listened to since 2011.
I can't say this will always be a 10/10 album to me if it isn't. That's disingenuous.
People grow out of things. Why lie to myself lol.

And because music is evolving and some gets better, it helps broaden the spectrum and highlights what really is a classic.

That's why classics are classics because they stand the test of time. I'm okay if people think the album did, just not to me.

Realistically all 10/10 let’s be honest now

More life and DLDT the last two 9/10 since NWTS

I’ll take a random example like Get Rich or Die Trying, classic album but if we’re being honest. It did not age well as a whole, not talking individual songs. Majority of the “classic” music back then hasn’t especially if we’re comparing it to today’s sound, that still doesn’t take away the fact that it’s a classic rap album.

Nothing in life besides wine ages well, at some point in time it will start to fade. You’ll eventually feel the same about yeezus as time progresses.

Take Care was a non skip album when it came out, maybe you can argue “we’ll be fine” but the album was on repeat for years before it got “old”

Time has passed, streaming era changed music forever. The way we consume music isn’t even the same. It’s for sure changed our attention spans/dopamine receptors (but that’s a completely different convo lol)

I try personally try to base my judgment on how I felt around that or up to a few years after that time. Judging an album that came out 11 years ago to your present standards is a little nuts to me but you’re right, to each their own
