    I use Mackie CR3-X as my home speakers for TV/gaming and I love them. Super clear quality with great dynamics and volume on them.

    Oh yeah. Super clear IMO, listening to music on it is akin to wearing a great pair of headphones. There’s really nothing that gets clipped even in Bluetooth.

    My advice is this.

    Go to Best Buy and get a new audio receiver. Mine is in the $400 range that's made by Sony and it has pretty much every capability you need and plenty of power to drive your speakers. Then go to an audio store that has used speakers, if you're in a metro area there's one around. The physical speakers last forever and you can get a great bang for your buck. Tell the employees what your situation is and they'll get you right.

    It's not the cheapest endeavor you'll ever do, but if it's done right you're set for life.

    don't knock the quality of vintage stereo systems, a lot of them are higher quality than what you can get nowadays

    you can get a hifi from 30 years ago that probably went for $10k brand new for a fraction of the cost

    I’ve had a pair of KEF LS50 Wireless II for about six months and I love them and couldn’t recommend them more. Super versatile. Mixes hi-fi sound with modern convenience. They’re connected to my turntable, TV, and AirPlay so I can stream music on them at the same time as my HomePods in other rooms.

    If you’re looking for a pair of speakers that can do everything you need while still sounding great, this is them

    @op i work in a/v installation, here's my advice:

    -if you're only using your setup for music, buy a used receiver on craigslist/facebook/etc, it can be a stereo receiver or a full a/v receiver. you can frequently find a quality unit for around $250 or less. generally speaking, look for receivers w/ more than 75 watts per channel (at 8 ohms, 20-20k hz) if not closer to 100. try to steer clear of older units from onkyo, look for units from denon/sony es/pioneer elite. age doesn't really matter if you're using a cd player/turntable as long as it has rca (red + white) audio inputs. if you wanna stream thru bluetooth/spotify/etc, definitely look for a newer unit from denon or yamaha, they have their own apps you can use on your phone that make it mad easy to stream. if you're unsure about specs just google the model #.

    -for speakers, definitely look for a set of tower speakers if you have the space for them rather than bookshelf speakers. i recently upgraded to towers from bookshelfs and the difference is night and day. depending on your budget and what your room decor looks like, towers from polk audio and klipsch are good starting points. if you wanna spend more there's always more aesthetically pleasing and higher quality towers from brands like kef, bowers & wilkins, martinlogan, etc.

    sorry for the long post but i figured i'd drop some knowledge since i work in the field lol

    without knowing much about your budget and s*** i'd prob just go with a cambridge amp, maybe the cxa81, and some dynaudio floorstanders. go to a proper audio place and ask to do some tests. also the Cambridge Audio Evo 75 is pretty sweet if you want a streamer built in. also make sure you do some research on floor placement and even room treatment if you really want to get the most out of them.
