Suburban blacks been bugging on social media for a while and its starting to annoy me as one of them. The reality is that some (usually young) black people will be suspicious of you because of your voice or how you carry yourself but if your a confident and socially aware brother this goes away as you get to know people. Ngl I have alot of "white" mannerisms and interests but I dont think I'm any lesser or need outside validation because of it. Social media makes out suburban blacks to all be bitter, anxiety ridden failures with an inferiority complex towards white people. Ik some people irl have that problem but if you spend alot of time near whites you develop understanding and dont see them as special or really "white" like that anymore.

White people also treat you differently once they recognize that your "assimilated" culturally in that way. I've seen white coworkers, and friends of mine switch up completely in how they talk to me compared to other black people. When your not seen as an other, you get humanized alot more and are generally treated with more respect and warmth. Your not some special object who makes jokes with a funny accent or a threat to be feared. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth but it's a reminder how f***ing racist the world is.
