    Midwest had Alternative/Conscious.

    The South had Trap(exclusively).

East coast had a purist viewpoint(soul samples& storytelling).

West coast had G-funk samples & storytelling.

Fast forward to 2020, it’s a hodgepodge culturally & Im not sure it’s for the better.... Thoughts?

The internet destroyed this that's why

Back then you'd be influenced by whatever played on your local radio stations

Now you can be influenced by whatever's poppin/trending on the net

    Makes no damn sense

like people in the south couldn’t hear music made in ny before the internet and vice versa

    SHAQUILLE

    How so

almost every rapper that blew up before the blog era needed a real core following on a local level that you could attach them to. Now, you don't. You can go viral through the internet and have fans or like in the blog era have someone write about your music and then magically get traction
