yeah but there's two things here

1 they think melly actually did it, bortlen's charges were always ridiculously trumped up (they do this a lot - overcharge even codefendants)

2 melly is obviously famous so that adds to it they're not going to want anything that looks like a w for him for several reasons, primarily fame and let's be honest, race lol

i do think at some point melly is either going to have the charges dismissed or get bail tho u can only hold someone for so long pretrial

Yeah I agree, but I think the charges are trumped up for him as well though. Also if you are a co-conspirator (which is what they claimed originally, not sure if they backed down on that I haven't looked at the case in a couple months), even if you don't actually pull the trigger you will get close to if not the same exact sentence. So thats why I have a feeling that they are scrambling to find evidence or don't have enough to keep him locked up for longer.

they are trumped up for them both, but re: co conspirators often times they do the big charges so u face more years / have a harder time getting bail which then motivates u to take a plea = a conviction in their eyes = pat on the back for the DA/state etc.

i think melly is going to beat it tho the evidence doesn't look this strong
