Thing is Pop Smoke was like a comet fr he barely rapped before he blew up. Drakeo was around longer but they both get the same type of reverence

Dr Lee PhDAbsolutely, we should be celebrating and advocating for more black men in academia. I broke a generational curse and made it so that my son didn't have to be raised in the projects like me, and hearing him say "I'm smart because my dad is and its in my DNA" makes me incredibly grateful every single day

One thing I've come to understand, especially about the internet, is someone is always watching, and thats an incredible influence ppl take for granted
And in an age of anti-intellectualism, we don't have enough people promoting and showcasing being educated on a practical level like we do absolutely everything else
In a sea of p***, gambling promotion, addiction, loser ideology, AI slop, etc. I think its important we promote our academic contributions as well
Because to be real, if a nigga like me can get in these rooms, there shouldn't be so few of us in these rooms, and if I can influence even one person to pursue a higher education, I can die in peace

Drakeo's case was a transparent look at solitary confinement in this country. He had a lot of people's sympathy and attention beyond his city.
A lot of the commentary around his murder has been written by people who were covering that. Jeff Weiss in particular who was on the scene when he was murdered.
