No I misinterpreted, the MJ estate reached out to Sony for that information
Which I doubt will happen due to Tony Motolla + Sony/MJ conflict
I still think there’s some politicing going on with the numbers
Dude...seriously. there is no conspiracy 😂 thriller's last certification was in 2017. And it was 33x platinum. There is no way in hell it magically sold over 5 million units in less than 3 years considering it only gained a platinum certificatiom each year prior
Just read on Google that they are country rock and country ain't big globally so

In 70's, it was. One of the biggest bands bro cmon now
F*** the Eagles.
Once all their c***fan base who are about 70 plus die, they’re done.
Frank Ocean made a better song with their beat.

Ok calm down now b
They tweeted this but MJ still has the highest selling album in the US & Worldwide
How the heck did The Eagles magically sell 8 million more copies than Thriller in one year ? They went from 29 million to 38 million
Not to mention Thriller spent 424 weeks on the BB 200 albums opposed to The Eagles who were only on the charts for 300
They bought the certification. No need to complain or drive KingofPop up the wall. We been knew this
Just read on Google that they are country rock and country ain't big globally so
Country was the #1 genre for like 10 years straight. They were HUGE in the 70s. Maybe even bigger than J5 and Diana
So how did the eagles sell 8 million in 2018 despite not charting ?
No need to be hostile
Edit: explain your 2nd point
I think the point is that the Eagles probably didn’t randomly sell 8 million in a year, and the source that you’re getting your numbers from is incorrect.
both MJ and Eagles have legendary music
Thriller a lil bit better as far as the two albums in question but motherfuckers on here like to pit artists and groups against each other like this s*** is Pokemon or something foh
u lookin real young with this one g
24 just heard hotel california on youtube for the first time and the whole thing didn't ring a bell to me
This reminds me of that southpark episode where the cops switch up on him when they find out hes white dont ask why
1) You cant cite some obscure random website for actual sales data mate. It is entirely possible that the eagles album outsold Thriller
2) The statement the Riaa doesnt want to do the certification is FALSE. The RIAA is OBLIGATED to certify if the criteria is met once a label sumbits sales data. If they do not certify that is 100% on grounds for a lawsuit, certification is the job of the LABEL. The "estate" asking for recertification means literally nothing as they dont own the catalogue of MJ. If they did they would simply have to submit the data which they didn't. .
Stop b****ing. In time certifications will come out
Looking through the Wikipedia page they have a section about possibly false sales:
“ There is skepticism of the album's certifications. From 1993 to 1995 the album received certifications for an additional eight million units, yet per Nielsen SoundScan it sold fewer than a million copies during that time. The album sold just over five million copies from 1991, when SoundScan began tracking, to 2006, although certifications indicate 17 million albums shipped between that time.2628 It has accrued 6.4 million in units consumed from 1991 to February 2020.29 In 2018 Sony Music CEO Rob Stringer stated the album had only sold 2.3 million album-equivalent units from 2006 to 2018 yet it received certification for nine million units during that time. Warner Music, which distributed Their Greatest Hits, claims the figure comes from newly-discovered sales dating back to 1976. A representative from Jackson's estate stated "The notion that they can go back 10, 15, 20 or 30 years and find units that were never counted before is absurd, they reviewed these records before. Why didn’t they find those uncounted records then?" and noted sales audits are usually restricted to three years.”
