Going pop does not = worse music. It's situational.

ScHoolboy Q recently admitted he came away from his last album Crash Talk feeling empty.

During his interview with Back On Figg, Q said he considers Crash Talk to be his "least introspective album." "It performed so well though," Q says at around the one hour and seven minute mark. "But it still left me empty cause it was me, but I was in a space of transitioning to where I was at. I was super d*** free, super daddy, but I didn't know how to get rid of the gangster image."

I went through that interview a few months back. Struggling to shed his old persona does not mean the music is worse.

he has always lived modestly especially for a rapper

Crash talk was eh but the tour was fire

CrasH Talk has grown on me but I honestly attribute that to the lack of new Q music and not it being a good album

It in my opinion is Q's worst album. Only songs I go back to regularly are CrasH and Numb Numb Juice. Everything else to me is quite average.

Blank Face LP, Oxymoron & H&C are all amazing to me.

if the album wasn't fufilling to him because it was more concerned with chasing hits due to not knowing who he was & how to make sense of it then we have a problem with the body of work

One of my predictions for this year is that Q will have a smash hit

Also Q deserves a lot more credit for how eccentric his rapping style is and still having the mainstream success he has had

Only half the album was like that and he wanted to make those hits. You're interpreting the intervewer like a Pitchfork writer

crash talk is a weak dated pop rap album with some cool deep cuts

Oxymoron and Blank Face are both amazing

too many good tracks on a short length album to call it trash

Oxy and Blank Face are pretty solid

Although I think some of the songs on Oxy haven’t aged the best

CHopstix is so f***in garbage. CrasH Talk however is overhated. S*** pretty cool aside from just 2 or 3 tracks.
