When I was younger I'd message people who made some of my favourite stuff, sometimes they'd reply and it was really cool, it never became a conversation or anything but I would have felt on top of the world if it did, I didn't think about the fact that it would be inappropriate for them to message someone my age (my age wasn't public anyhow), I just saw it as a creator responding to a fan, add to that the way that Roiland liked to focus on these young girls to make them feel special, inviting them to in-person events etc, and I think it's pretty clear that the victims were being dazzled by a man who knew what his star power could do, I don't think you can see them as accessories or accomplices at all
