Goal posts being moved because your initial comment made it seem like Ross' career is dependent on Drake when that's not necessarily the case.
Curtis had an Eminem feature where he was rapping about literally pissing and s***ting on some woman, as well as the weak ass Amusement Park single which was basically Candy Shop pt 2 with Six Flags metaphors.... Straight to The Bank which was meh, not to mention the Nicole Scherzinger and Young Buck collab which was kinda like ???
And a Robin Thicke feature which was kinda redundant seeing as how it came right after Ayo Technology which had the other more popular white boy R&B singer. That album was a mess no matter how you slice it.
And (through 2010-2012 especially) Ross had all the hype and expectations in the world, especially off them 2010-2011 singles.
if i recall right, they were expecting ross' GFID to do like 500k first week. it only ended up doing like 230k, but the expectations were through the roof.
ross has had a steady fanbase that supports him, but he never broke through and had a massive album.

nah that's a fact. the reason their expectations were so high was because Ross / MMG hit us with Teflon Don & Self Made 1 back to back. A lot of hits spawned from that run
if youre a young nigga you will never understand how f***ing huge 50 was back then nigga. street niggas, the clubs, f***ing little kids bumpin it. bro was everywhere

real spill my nigga. dude was worldwide, movies, video games, tv shows. like and he managed to keep street niggas with it. the Old G-unit tapes, all the g-unit radios, etc etc. I feel sorry for kids these days even though music is more accessible the early street mixtape era with diplomats and g-unti was raw as f***

i slept on ross during those days, and because i consider myself an old school fan, i was almost embarrassed to admit i f***ed with his music. the whole him being a prison guard s*** - old heads dismissed him as a phony and wouldnt listen to the music
ive listened to ross' stuff on the regular, but only until recently i was like "i really f*** with this guy for real". i think because hes been in the game longer now and isnt really a new face anymore.

Nah I was the same way, one of my boys had to get me to listen to DTR & Teflon Don for me to actually consider myself a fan.

i think DTR is his best. i bring it up alot on here, but i think GFID would have been his best if he ordered the tracks differently and subbed in a few different songs for touch'n you, ice cold and presidential.
the album starts off great but then it goes to 3 bangers in a row, and then after that it switches to 3 soft pop songs with beats that are terrible considering its a ross album. i dont know what he was thinking.

Well his most memorable songs are with Aubrey. Without checking I’d think best charting as well.
You’re s***ting on Curtis writing paragraphs but the single were successful and the album did better numbers than anything Ross did.
Plus I listen to Curtis more than anything Ross has made

I Get Money was successful, I'll Still Kill was cool, Straight To The Bank was meh , Ayo Technology was awkward & Amusement Park was dogshit.
And a good chunk of Ross' memorable songs don't have Aubrey on em lmao I'm crying at such a lazy take.
I LOVE 50, but admitting that you listen to Curtis more than Teflon Don? GFID? Mastermind? Lmao god bless brother

Yea those are easily the worst songs on there, GFID tried to follow the tracklisting of Teflon Don lowkey if you pay attention.
(Doing stuff like sequencing Hold Me Back & 911 back to back like he did with MC Hammer & BMF on TD)

He tried, except GFID is longer and TD didnt have that awful pop song stretch. Ten Jesus Pieces and Diced Pineapples closes out the album well, but those pop tracks really ruin the vibe.
I think GFID still has higher highs, arguably. Pirates, Sixteen, Amsterdam, Triple Beam Dreams.
They were also using his music in them string of edgy 2000s comedy movies like White Chicks and s***
s*** i dont even remember that s*** like that but i believe it wayans fell of hard af after scary movie that s*** was their last decent joint for real. but yeah just goes to show nigga was EVERYWHERE

Yea I agree on the pop song stretch ruining the album. But Teflon Don did have that weak Diddy / Trey Songz feature. Those highs are highs though

Yeah a bunch of those movies used In Da Club in some way shape or form and I know for a fact that the 50 Cent / Biggie Smalls song was in White Chicks peep. Movie was awful tho
