Chuck D said "Rick Rubin is one of the pillar stones of hip hop."
Why is this getting so much publicity idgi
Did he say anything that he didnt say in his 4 hour doc in 2019
He probably got paid $5 million by HOV to sit on a couch with his socks off in 2013 to go “Yeah, that’s hard, but what if you just take it to another level” for every track he executive produced on MCHG
generational bag chaser

Funny you say this. I been getting a lot of Rick Rubin recommendations on YouTube lately. I just watched that Pharrell interview for the first time yesterday.

It's getting publicity because the release of this coincides with the release of his new book, "The Creative Act: A Way of Being." So his pr team is making the rounds to media outlets for publicity most likely.
Do ppl here really not like Rick Rubin tho?

Got it
Im kind of over him yeah. there’s nothing that hasn’t already been said about him or by him
Also a ton of other things too. I believe all of the 80s rappers who say he scummed them. Plenty of people in the industry dont like him and accuse him of racism.
his show with paul mccartney was so boring and i say this as a massive paul stan
he tried to make records with u2 and bruce springsteen and they both didn’t like what he did for them and ended up nuking the sessions
johnny cash cover of hurt is iconic tho
he needs to put some shoes on and focus on making music

Interesting.
Do you have a link to any of these allegations? I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm trying to find some stuff on this.
I did find this article from Spin Magazine.

Apparently, he put out a Slayer record with perceived pro-Nazi lyrics and his comments about Afro-Centric rap wasn't great here.
Love Rick Rubin, he’s just really good at explaining the process of creativity and how to stay true to your creative intuition. And honestly, that’s probably a lesson a lot of creatives find useful. A lot of people can say they could do what he does and my feeling are always the same — so do it then.
Interesting.

His idea of what rap should be(as minimalist as possible) is completely re tarded

I disagree. A lot of music is over-produced. Rubin essentially wanted music to maintain its raw energy to give it a feeling of more authenticity.
That said, I feel like there's some Rubin records that are over-produced. The one that stands out to me is Eminem's Berzerk which is absolutely horrid.

How is Rick Rubin far-right?
He put out a Slayer album with questionable lyrics right? That's not him saying those things. So what in your mind makes him far right?
