i can’t believe we are in the 21st century and people are threatening to kill other people because of a song … but yeah kind of makes sense considering it’s the 21st century, which is sad.

People will literally threaten to kill someone over anything, I see death threats on Twitter literally all the time. Why you acting surprised?

Maybe she shouldnt have appropriated a religion she didn’t know anything about

    • This is a religion where visual depictions of the prophet isn’t even allowed

    • Under strict interpretation, music is considered haram

Bone head move. Even without the death threats from oversea fanatics, this is still disrespectful.

  • Its her fault shes getting sued

  • Aug 14, 2021

Wonder why she has a version at all with the religious context

The artist also tweeted an apology for unknowingly including the sample in her song.

Despite a public apology from Rihanna following the immediate backlash, the artist claims she was forced into hiding after receiving a barrage of death threats over the song. She claims the constant threat of being decapitated and murdered led to anxiety and depression.

People are doing way too much these days man smh

    Mad innit

  • Aug 14, 2021

Damn so it wasnt even her intention for the religious verses to be in there

has happened before. some european DJ in a tunisian nightclub did some EDM mashup with the islamic call to prayer adhan and had to flee the country.

it's totally plausible that it could happen if you don't know wtf you're putting in your song and the religious significance of it and just doing it "cause it's arabic" or whatever.

idk who the artist in question is, if she's from a muslim country then i truly doubt "unknowingly" lol

ok but why does the artist have a version of the song that they know will offend people

  • Aug 14, 2021

This happens so often, I don't see how artists just don't check to make sure their music doesn't quote the Quran, they had to recall Ocarina of Time and LittleBigPlanet for the same thing, like how do you accidentally do that

because they're culturally insensitive and don't understand what they're using in their music probably. she could've sent that song over and then realized her mistake and fixed the track up and send the revised version.

or she lookin for a bag

Great. But we're not living theocracies, so it doesn't matter. (Those who are living in theocracies: I hope you won't, someday. Or I hope internet will be permanently cut down so you can live in peace from sin or whatever.)

Those pretending to feel oppressed by a random DJ may simply be full of s***, too. More importantly, they're attacking creative expression. The usual deal with religion, you know. People used to be as severe when it concerned Christianism.

  • Aug 14, 2021

This is why you should know what you’re sampling. The Islamic religion has many prayers & vocal traditions that sound like “singing” to the west. That is not the case. The tones are beautified purposely with the intent to please God.

Yes, muslims are an emotional group of people, who are passionate, love their prophet (as opposed to draw him, include him in satire, comedy, etc), and who’s lives revolve around their religion (before family, country or self).

…With that being said, uhm, not sure if it’s relevant or not.. but I’d let Rihanna kick me in the face with all her strength and then laugh at me as I writhe in pain on the floor, and then she leaves with her superior boyfriend (while still laughing).
