She should do a prince, have an alias get clarence in the studio and create mixtape after mixtape do everything independently. She has already gained a cult fanbase and established herself enough to get support from the public she just needs to go back her roots and create amazing pop music. She f***ed up when she was trying to play the industry game instead of evolving what kept us tuned in, in the first place which was her incredible music.

RINA IS REALLY TALENTED SHE KNOWS HOW TO CREATE AN ALBUM HOLD THE GIRL REALLY FELT LIKE SHE WAS TRYING TO CHASE MAINSTREAM SUCCESS AND KEEP HER ARTISTIC INTEGRITY, THATS NEVER A GOOD IDEA WHEN IT COMES TO ARTISTS WHO BUILT A CULT FOLLOWING IN THE UNDERGROUND SCENE BECAUSE IT WATERS DOWN WHAT PEOPLE CAME TO YOU TO FIND.

  • She was doing too much once she broke through, hope she uses this to step back and assess cause how do you sign to THAT guy, like he goes against everything Riya!

  • Also considering how she hasn't even touched the Asian market despite being one of the best is really a damn shame, sis shouldve gotten into her utada jpop bag a while ago.

it was the worst label choice, she could've signed with possibly xl if she wanted to keep her artistic value and possibly gain mainstream success.

Every upcoming artist should required to take a seminar taught by jay z on not signing bad deals and owning your masters

pray for my wife yall 😔

  • she literally was the first one to revive the y2k sound at peak quality and still no one has topped that damn ep. Why did she decide to let it go.

  • yeah this is definitely the thread to critique her music

  • Also considering the label she signed with has mostly indie rock artists idk why she thought it was a great idea to sign with them because she is a pop star.

Idk how music contracts work but I feel like they would have closed that loophole by now

Idk her current situation but a lot of artists don't even touch their music, it stays in the studio and somebody keeps it, and since the lable paid for the studio time they control everything

She could do everything 100% independent and drop mixtapes but there's no profitability there. No touring, no merch. So it's not sustainable

it will be for her because she has a platform that she has built through her music, so whatever she does musically she will get support. Look at tinashe for example, her music wasn't what she wanted when she was signed but she still had a platform that was built because of her music. Now that she's independent the quality increased exponentially and her support keeps growing organically. Rina won't lose much if she cuts ties, she's already established and has multiple potential streams of support.

I think it's because she didn't give enough details about the situation, she could've talked about it much more before randomly bringing it up on stage.

She for sure will have a fanbase (I am a fan for sure) but her current contract might prohibit a tour, or selling merch, or anything profitable

This is just speculation. Really hope she does go the indie route
