    bricksquad's sound was more of an hybrid between 2000s bling and 2010s trap, hence proto-trap

    you don’t call Sugarhill Gang proto-rap because they sound nothing like today’s rap

    trap is a specific subgenre with its own codes, so it's not comparable to something as diverse as rap in general

    look im just sayin drill originated in chicago, as influencal as he is a rapper from atl couldn't have invented it
