damn bro rip. always loved his drums for the good the bad and then queen/his collabs with damon albarn
What a legend
Was this the sample on common - heat prod by dilla?
NOOOOOO
NOOOOOOOOOOO damn man
A f***ing GOAT man. Still was drumming up to his death
@AudioConsulting @Biginthegame
Damn .........goat drummer the Elvin Jones type status of Nigeria co-creator of afrobeat
😳
That’s insane...maybe that is why he pressed so hard on blue note records to release that collab record with Hugh.
You look at his resume & it’s amazing. His age& how he could dance circles around 20 year old drummers.
Not to mention a lot of drummers would be unemployed because he gave a lot of Europe & the west that spirit & motivation they could carry the rhythm even though that intimidation of doing it justice.
You know how many European bands got record deals in 80’s 90’s 2000’s. You know how many projects were released & bands that continue to this day?
When you mention Fela’s name you have to mention Tony, that’s just the truth of it all.
A lot of people in the U.K. knew. respect to Damon Albarn for giving him the look that a lot of people didn’t. He did the same thing for Womack.
He completed his musical mission & left us with so much. I have a feeling this was one of these musicians who would show the younger musicians backstage techniques to get a better feel.
Was this the sample on common - heat prod by dilla?
Yeah. Dilla also put the track on his Back To The Crib mix. Allen ofc is also on the Fela Kuti & Africa 70 track "Water Get No Enemy" which is also on the mixtape.
