  • Felt like Vice gave off some dark vibes all throughout it's existence but this is still 100% a bad look for journalism as a whole, like touch wood but it looks like that's heading towards AI credited in the bylines

What's this like the 3rd/4th notable outlet within the past 3 months that's gone under?

Like there’s nothing cool being created and forged these days it’s just selling s*** off to sterile tech bros who yap about AI and crypto which are two of the lamest things ever

It's like they see art and creativity as something that can be easily produced rather than a craft honed over time. Truly some of the lamest people out rn

Hard to believe that less than 10 years ago Disney wanted to acquire Vice for $3.5 billion. Now we're here.

Vice has been through so many iterations in its time, I barely remember the McInness eras; even the Noisey days seem distant. One of the most influential, important, and fatally obnoxious news/criticism outlets of my lifetime

vice, p4k, complex - common factor in all these things seems to be chasing endless growth/pe money instead of fostering an actual community and real audience. The second whatever is considered cool moves on, these places become lame in the eyes of the public.

Crazy that Uproxx got gutted too, and they’d seemingly moved from being a pop-culture-news-and-funny-lists-website conglomerate to hosting high quality rips of rap videos from the 80s and 90s on YT. Can’t do s*** these days!

  • This would be upsetting if it was 2011
