I'll say it looks good and Dragon's Dogma 2 is looking great.

Played like 2-3 hours of this yesterday night. There is A LOT of customization in this. I played up to bonding with Igashichi Iizuka.

Also, if anybody is looking for a copy early, check Walmart. Check the app, site & in store. They are selling them early.

Give impressions of the open world if you can. Seems to be the most contentious aspect (with some previews saying it feels pretty dated).

Also maybe writing, don’t know how much of an impression they got of that from previews.

I'll say right off the bat, this shouldn't have been a PS5 exclusive. It's more of one of those PS5/PS4 releases. Which, isn't a bad thing just putting it into perspective.

I'd probably compare the open world so far to like AC but less dense & obviously not as impressive graphically.

The writing seems okay, granted I haven't gotten super far. So I cant speak on the story too much but the dialogue seems fine and it does seem interesting so far. I've only met like 3 people I'd say are important to the story.

I spent the bulk of last night in the menus, fighting and the side missions. I've ran into several people just needing help and I also went and caught a fugitive. There's also a longhouse which is like a secret base. You can do housekeeping and redesign your gear there.

There's a lot to be customized in terms of appearance and combat styles and weapons pretty early in the game. People are going to really like the variations. Clothes are split into Japanese Set, Western Set, & Military Sets. Everything from the headgear to the sandals I already have several options for. From villager attire, to kimonos, to US Navy, Ninja, etc..A lot of weapons so far also.

It is pretty much If Tsushima, Creed and Sekiro had a baby basically...

When I get off work i'll play some more before the Mavs game.

Does the side content feel as copy/pasted as AC (which I kind of expect)?

I’d like to think that the mechanics (which appear to be superior to AC) would make that aspect feel a bit more tolerable/interesting though.

If by that you mean there's a Western dude butt naked
"OMG bandits stole my clothes, can you go retrieve them?" Style missions? Then yeah lol
    or
Get a tip about a group of bandits & go kill them. Clear out a bandit camp. Retrieve a stolen statue. Etc....

Apparently, the fugitive missions actually grow your bond/reputation with the area and the locals benefits you. It just slips my mind in what ways at the moment.

They did a lot of nice QOL things all throughout the game.

    Stealth is actually decent too.

All the yapping about the game's graphics tells me is that no one looking at this game played Nioh 1, 2 or Wo Long. None of those were lookers but all had fire gameplay

But if you're looking for story, the above 3 games I listed had the most forgettable story and characters ever conceived
