One of the worst movies I have ever seen no exaggeration. They really made Rey and Kylo kiss. Palpatine shows up out of nowhere? Then made Rey his granddaughter? The final battle fell flat because I did not care about any of the characters. Just a really bad movie.

I get why people wanted him there, but what was he really going to do? Him taking on AT-ATs singlehandedly with a lightsaber would feel cheap and unearned, and the whole point of what he was trying to do was to avoid conflict

Trying to resolve the situation with Kylo with violence is what f***ed everything up in the first place for everyone, so him actually going to fight him doesn’t make sense when you look at his arc in the movie

Well put, I seriously can’t understand people defending this film, even from a filmmaking perspective it’s an absolute jarring mess when you watch this in comparison to the first two.

Everything is rapidly moving and full of constant unearned moments.

The editing is f***ing bizarre and stinks of reshoots.

People complained about TLJ subverting expectations poorly yet we got these putrid takeouts and attempts at surprise that didn’t work or convince at all because they were directed by a hack and written by buffoons. They really saw the endgame success and caved into the neckbeards and “real” Star Wars fans who didn’t care about important things in a movie like story, smart characters decisions, proper pacing, intelligent ways to move the plot forward, earned moments... and decided that the only thing they really wanted was it to feel like a “Star Wars!!!” Movie. Well, this is that, a film full of ridiculous check marked choices and moments that literally feel like they’re asking the audience to clap.

I really like TFA/TLJ for their own reasons and admittedly their both flawed but damn they are coherent, confident films that aren’t pandering to the neckbeard demographic that’ll never be pleased.

It’s quite sad that this was the most spineless, soulless attempt to please the worst aspect of Star Wars, the “fandom”.

I liked the movie but I do agree with a lot of the unearned parts not flowing and put The Last Jedi way above it and just a tad above force awakens for being a tad more interesting

Accurate. I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate ROTJ more despite the f***ery cause it feels connected and the despecialized version makes the first act way better

this movie was just trying to reveal TOO much about the SW universe at once.

you really gotta flesh out & peel back the layers over several films to pull off what they tried in ROS.

& they were triggering my emotions by pulling elements from classic SW material but using them in the most cringeworthy of ways

TROS is so bad that in my head i’m striking it from canon, i’m pretending TLJ is the finale and we just ended all this off a cliffhanger

That’s the odd part . I’m on record saying this was going to happen even before awakens dropped . As soon as Disney acquires Star Wars I’m saying “ they don’t make emotionally moving live action anything and their Mcu movies equate to modern day Disney channel original movies or worse “ . Yet people acting like I’m saying it for the first time . So yes after a half a decade of saying the same s*** it feels good for people to finally see I want just s***ting on the party and exactly why

Disney immediately didn’t have a plan . How do I know that

• Force awakens plot
• their original statement to fans when they announced trilogy is that it would focus on new characters and distance itself from old trilogies while respecting the lore . What did they do ? Brought back Luke and leia
• remember when everyone was hyped lupita was going to be an alien like it was going to be a main character ?
• ahh yes the villain material is he has an anger problem and wants to be like old villain
• ahhh yes a forced love story with incest

Like come the f*** on you have the whole galaxy , millions of dollars and 17 years since old trilogy yet you still making the same s***? Yet some how you removing the practical effects and sets which made the old movies cool and just doing heavy green screen ?

Wtf you want me to say ? Lie to y’all and act like this trilogy has many redeeming qualities ? It doesn’t . Which is why I didn’t watch .

Disney selling a 250$ skywalker set they milking fans over and over . So yes I’m glad Disney finally had a critical flop because they deserve it . They are obsessed with people pleasing content over and over fan service where they might as well have fans write it

Palpatine is utilized terribly for the plot

JJ retcons tons of TLJ (bad or good) just to satisfy neckbeards who cried about the decisions made, which makes the tone and pacing of the film a complete mess.

Kylo doesn’t die irredeemable, his pull to the light isn’t really earned, Leia is killed off in the corniest way to bring her son back and then he becomes bland saying barely anything
Finn and Poe don’t have interesting enough arch’s/ much to do.

Rey is a Palpatine (terrible retcon) this takes away from the universe, making it feel smaller and her taking the last name of Skywalker felt so unearned.
