People ITT really defending Luke throwing the saber in TLJ, like it was some deep ass thing. FOH it was pure comedy, and Luke was a f***ing dumbass in that movie.

It really wasn’t done for comedy.

Jesus talking to TLJ detractors is like talking to someone willfully misunderstanding a project yet never ceasing s***ting on it. what were you all expecting? For Luke to be cheerful and ready for adventure? oh thank you so much Rey for finding my lightsaber, whatever shall i do to repay you?

Doesn’t matter if that was the intent, it wasn’t executed that way. The way it was portrayed in the film made it seem like a joke and that Luke didn’t give a f***. I didn’t expect him to be all lovey-dovey with it, but if he truly didn’t care about it, and there was some deep reason for him to just simply toss it, then they should’ve done a better job convincing people of it IMO via facial expression or whatever.People laughed in my theatre when he did it....so there you go.

That’s because audience members are stupid.

and even if the intent were for some comedic value it’s center reasoning can still be rooted in Luke’s trauma and resentment of the Jedi order.

You can do two things at once.

Do you need the movie to take your hand for you? it’s pretty clear in his history why he wouldn’t be so happy seeing his old lightsaber again.

  • Dec 25, 2019

Calling a scene comedic just because people laughed at it in the theater is silly af. people laughed at Thor's "I went for the head" line in endgame even though that scene is clearly not supposed to be funny.

  • Dec 25, 2019

People laughed at kylo death. Y’all think that was done to be comedic?

  • Dec 25, 2019

still hilarious how they did Hux and Rose character lmfao

Here we go making Star Wars some deep ass f***ing s*** lmao. I don’t need it to hold my hand for me, but anybody that thinks there’s some deep ass underlying meaning to Luke throwing his saber is f***ing dumb, GIVEN how it was executed in the movie. Yeah sure, audience reaction may not be a good indicator on the emotional intent of a scene, but if the WHOLE F***ING audience is dying of laughter, that just tells me that the way it was portrayed on screen was done really poorly, especially if it was supposed to be serious. Just my two cents anyways. Done arguing about it. TLJ AND TRoS are both utter garbage. Sue me

Ok so basically your argument is “hurr you can’t treat Star Wars like it has any inner depth” and you have shown that you have absolutely no f***ing clue what you’re talking about when it comes to distinguishing an audience’s perception/reaction to a scene and the film’s intent.

  • Dec 25, 2019

Yeah we’re dumb for giving a very solid reasonable explanation as to why Luke would throw his saber

Yeah you know it’s not like the director had written it for a purpose, nope there’s no deep meaning at all. Nope

    First Take

How come Jedi never move really fast like that one scene in Phantom Menace

Stylistically this is another reason this trilogy is garbage. Donnie Yen’s character is old and blind. Not even Force Sensitive, and was able to display more agility, finesse, and overall skill than Kylo or Rey smfh
