Rian Johnson took a few things from Empire, a few things from Return of the Jedi and just shifted the blame over from the apprentice to the master but TLJ fans think it's some masterpiece that told a different story than any other Star Wars movie because he shifted around a few details instead of just copying everything like JJ has.
They tell you that you just don't understand it when you call them out on liking a movie that's a ripoff of 5&6. "No, you just don't get the themes of the Jedi and of their failure, that everyone can be a jedi etc, it takes a large brain to take in such high-level ideas"
Don't get me wrong some things like Luke talking about the Jedi's failure is good and it helps put the Prequels in context which is great but it isn't a next level new story for Star Wars generally besides some of the good bits of dialogue between Luke and Rey. I like the TLJ but it has some terrible execution in some places and it isn't a next level new direction that the TLJ stans think.
LOL THIS. Somebody f***ing gets it.

The yellow lightsaber, the red stormtroopers, the knights of Ren. This movie had a ton of little additions that serve no narrative purpose and are clearly there just to sell action figures.
There really isn’t no point to this trilogy. It doesn’t add more to the Star Wars legacy lmao. Hope they do the old republic movie correctly

what was the point of this being yellow

Why couldn't they give this to her in the beginning of the movie since anakins broke in TLJ
what was the point of this being yellow
Gray Jedi. Don't tell @MiniVan
I'm BSing but:
looper.com/173922/what-the-yellow-lightsaber-in-star-wars-means
I'm getting Bastila Shan vibes from that. Wasted opportunity to make it a double-bladed saber. I think every Old Republic fan would have screamed.
it's been 12-24 months since tlj
this movie puts time between the movies like every stars movie beside tlj
I know that but all the relationship building takes place off screen. In the OT you actually see the trios chemistry develop
Crazy how leia has enough jedi training to beat luke in a sparing match yet never once actually used any of these skills to save ben or help the resistance.
Even if that was the case it doesn't even make sense in the context of TFA. If Leia is a powerful jedi why did she send Han of all people to try to redeem him.
what was the point of this being yellow
Jedi Temple Guard sentinels use yellow lightsabers
they're suppose to defend and protect the jedi order
would have been interesting if they went more into detail about that
what was the point of this being yellow
What was the point of Luke's being green?
maybe the yellow lightsaber was supposed to represent that balance has finally been brought to the force
while red & blue are very similar hue, there’s no denying that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to good vs evil, yellow can serve as the perfect inbetween compliment to both these colors, the third primary color. Thus we achieve balance
either that or they went full fan service to appease EU nerds
What was the point of Luke's being green?
idk but they didn’t make that a focal point in the conclusion of the movie or anything
idk but they didn’t make that a focal point in the conclusion of the movie or anything
I wouldn't necessarily say Rey's saber is a focal point, and tbh Luke's green saber was a f***ing huge talking point back when ROTJ released. Nobody knew colors outside of blue and red existed so to see green was wild. Now we see them everywhere so Luke's green saber reveal isn't really a big thing.
Btw, the only reason it was green was because they couldn't make the blue look good with the surroundings of the scene.
Who actually walked out the theater after watching TLJ and thought to themselves "hmm this is exactly like empire and return of the jedi"

Movie would have been 100x better if they finally showed a Jedi building their freaking lightsaber . Especially the significance of it for Rey
