He was an integral part of the rebellion when it was in its infant stages which of course later went on to defeat her grandfather. Obviously he still is very random and the only reason why he's in it is fan service but he has more reason to be there than someone like Qui-Gon.

Couple good points, and tbh I forgot he's the one who discovered Anakin to set this whole s*** off
