What was his original importance
I may have missed that
people thought he was gonna be a jedi. . .
people thought he was gonna be a jedi. . .
Yeah but he isn’t. So what is his importance really.
To me the best thing his character could’ve done was the sacrifice he attempted
How dope it would've been if Finn's entire arc was "is he or is he not a jedi" and becoming a more nobel hero/getting through the pain of his past
Instead of being relegated to whatever the f*** he is now
Rian gets all the blame and hate for "subverting expectations" but we should really be blaming JJ for a lot of it.

Guarantee we wouldnt be having these talks if jj did ep 8

I don't necessarily agree with that. Unlike a lot of people, I kinda feel like TLJ is a pretty natural progression from TFA. I don't think Rian s***ted on all of JJ's ideas. Of course an Episode 8 directed by JJ would be different but a lot of the main ideas, especially in regards to Luke would've been very similar.

I agree that It's a natural progression seeing that it picks up everything right after the end of tfa
But some stuff would've been more satisfying to watch
So palpatine dies ? Can’t wait to find out 3 movies from now that he’s still alive and it was only a clone
How they took a guy as naturally charismatic as Boyega and did nothing with him, I’ll never know.
Finn should’ve been a Jedi
And Rey should’ve essentially been the antagonist of this story imo
Kylo should’ve been the Palp relative and Rey a Skywalker
Everything plays out almost the same way minus a few tweaks here and there
For cohesiveness but instead of Rey and Kylo vs Palp in the end it’s Finn having to fight Rey after she’s completely turned to the darkside by Snoke and becomes his new apprentice. Kylo still ends up killing him in some crazy fight but this time it’s out of jealously after basically being outcasted and replaced by Rey and it happens in the 3rd instead of the second. Kylo still dies but after fighting Rey and Rey still ends up dying as well after fighting Finn but for good and as a sacrifice in order to save him somehow. Imagine how lit it would’ve been in the end if it was Finn taking up the Skywalker name in her honor and ending the saga with a black light saber in his hand
So Palpatine broadcasts his revenge like a goddamn terrorist to the First Order and the galaxy lmao.
Then he combines the first order and the Sith fleet to make the final order
Y’all can blame JJ or Rian but man you can tell this trilogy had absolutely no plan from the start
