Plot details for Eggers’ Labyrinth are under wraps, but we’re told the film is a sequel, rather than a remake of Jim Henson’s 1986 classic. Eggers is writing the script with Sjón, his collaborator on 2022 Viking actioner The Northman, with whom he’s also working on Werwulf. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will produce alongside Lisa Henson, with Brian Henson executive producing.

Most definitely, puppet work will prob take a while

This’ll probably be 2027 release at the earliest

    Hopefully not

  • Eggers’ career trajectory has taken a surprising turn, but I’m in for whatever he makes

I just hope he’s not done making those lower budget films that he is so good at.
His stories are always at its best when it’s just a few characters in one location and everyone is just losing their minds

  • what happened to the other thread for this

My parents had the original Labyrinth, so I watched it all the time as a kid. Those practical effects made everything feel so real, but at the same time, completely otherworldly. I really hope Eggers sticks to using puppets, because that’s what made it so special.

  • Damn.. Robert's hot commodity these days

Probably up there with Bram Stokers Dracula and Murnaus Faust for my favorite practical effects ever
