In July 2015, it was reported that Eggers would write and direct a remake of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu, based on the Dracula mythology. The film is set to be produced by Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen for Studio 8. In November 2016, Eggers expressed surprise that the Nosferatu remake was going to be his second film, saying "It feels ugly and blasphemous and egomaniacal and disgusting for a filmmaker in my place to do 'Nosferatu' next. I was really planning on waiting a while, but that's how fate shook out." Eggers had previously directed his high school's performance of the Nosferatu play, and was hired to direct a professional version of the play due to his work. Eggers credited this as the event that inspired him to pursue a career in filmmaking. The film has since been put on hold.
coming never
He was talking on a podcast recently about it.
Sounds like it’s off the table for now...
His next film has been announced tho. A24. It’s about a viking avenging his father. One of the Skarsgaards and Nicole Kidman are on board

Super in
Never happening
And if it does won’t come close to Murnau or Herzog’s. Love Eggers but he need to axe this one and chill.
Should’ve went for Dracula instead.

I don’t want to see him be pigeonholed into historical sagas but I’m sure it will be entertaining

Nosferatu is Dracula tho?
Two different classic films.

I know bro but Nosferatu is an adaptation of the same source material. S*** was called something else to avoid a lawsuit
It is THE adaptation tho. Easily the best one
Idk i think Eggers could make something great if he puts his own spin on it but if it never gets made I won't care too much
Original screenplays all day

Yea in the end they're all adapted from Stoker's original but Eggers is directly attempting to make another version of the Murnau version (source: bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3590253/robert-eggers-explains-hes-remaking-nosferatu-instead-dracula-interview)
already been made into two classic films and it feels like a cop out to attempt to do it again, would rather see a completely new take on a gothic vampiric horror film
if he HAS to remake one id rather see the Browning one done but ultimately he is wasting his talents remaking anything, even if i think it'll be amazing he already stated himself how many times he thinks its blasphemous to even do it
coming 2099
Oh word he’s doing this again?! So assuming this will be after The Northman
