Well that's cap. And the comparison was cause Northman kind of reminded me of Valhalla rising

Northman was a bit of a let down but is still dramatically better than Valhalla Rising imo

This was... okay? Idk, I expected more in the end. My emotional investment wasn't there because the movie seemed all one note (revenge flick, I know I know, but everyone and their newborn baby is angry like a mf in this)

The story was pretty straightforward, so I felt it didn't justify all the weird s*** sandwiched in the package, but the funny thing is that Eggers fans may think this was tame, even though it's a weird ass flick for a mainstream release.

I will say though, that this was absolutely gorgeous to look at, plus the action scenes that were there were quite well done. Overall, it was good, but I expected so much more.

He’ll be fine. even with this being a box office flop it still got overall good reviews and I can see it picking up a few oscar noms in the tech categories like sound, production design etc

Not quite lol people f***ing hate that movie to this day. Only Eggers stans are a little let down by this but seems like everyone likes it at minimum.

dw not in terms of the quality of the movie, just the general discontent with studio manipulation and how it affected the final cut. I know for damn sure after this he’s not gonna get hoed again. he talks about it more in depth in that article
