I am saying many that are consumed with 4k 60fps their current console will be obsolete to them lol. I am not a pc snob. I played console and will play console on 1080p til I get the 4k set up I want. I play computer on 1080p. Like I just care about gameplay and frames at a certain point
As long as its a locked 30fps, im good. The 60fps thing has been blown outta proportion, 60fps has always been a standard for arcade games, never open world/super complex games. If your obsessed with 4K/60, you probably have a ridiculous setup already, but they are in a vocal minority.
Consoles push boundaries in a efficient manner, PC is all about gains/one upsmanship it seems, but its all in the same gen.

I agree with you lol. I think a lot of people on here are focused on one upmanship more than quality of actual gameplay

lol gaming is in such an odd spot man cause people want a 8k 120fps gaming device to be sold to them for 500$ but cost 1000$ to make and games to cost a trillion to make but sold to them for 70$

I've actually said that games right now are actually too cheap, at least physicals. Physicals should be at least $100(could be more)so they can add manuals and other stuff, digital should be $70. But yeah, I thought people understood, the more graphically complex a game is, the more you have to sacrifice in fidelity. To say PS5 isn't powerful, compared to the most powerful computers out, is telling.
You want gains, get the highest end PC possible, hell, go pre-built and buy from Falcon Northwest. If you want an efficient machine specifically made for gaming, and will play said games at a standardized fidelity, go console.

Video games should be more expensive only because they were too expensive when they launched and haven't really adjusted with inflation since
But I think they know that a lot of people won't buy video games anymore if they're $100+
I feel like the industry's current practices (paid DLC, microtransactions, cosmetics etc) helps cover the cost. They can't do that s*** AND expect $100 or more imo

You had Super Nintendo games back then running for $60-$70, Neo Geo games cost $250. PS1/Saturn era basically set the modern price tier for disc based games with $50, ever since 1995, the price of video games have only went up $20. People would pay $100 for new releases if they brought back the whole package a physical is suppose to come with (manual, posters, stickers etc).
DLC could still work, as long as it feels like brand new content and not something that should've been in the game in the first place.

My country's currency is weak af. $1 = almost 20 Rand. I'm not paying 2000 bucks for a video game
We were paying R700 during the 360 era and I already felt like that was ridiculous. There will reach a point where most gamers will just say "Fuck that, I'm not paying that much/I'll wait till it's cheaper". And I think that's lower than $100, $80 like the limit
I agree, it's justified when it's like a RDR Undead Nightmare or FromSoft type expansion. But the s*** they're doing, like fighting games dropping characters on/soon after launch

Develepors are actually looking to phase out physicals, cause its basically pointless, beyond wanting to have a disc to hold. Most games can't even hold all the data necessary to play on disc(Jedi Survivor basically required internet so you can download the rest of the game). I'd love to buy physicals, if they were a nicely packaged product beyond a disc and a couple of slips advertising other games.

I knew the Neo Geo was expensive but I had no idea games were $250 each, that's insane

Most of my collection is physicals. Only buy digital when it's a deal too good to say no to or it's a game I can't get on disc for PS4 like OG RE4 or Persona 4. If they actually go all digital, I'm deadass calling it quits on the hobby and will just keep playing the games I currently have

$250 in the early 90s, alot of kids got big time reality checks asking for a Neo Geo back then lol

Phasing out physicals would be wild considering that there's a lot of gamers around the world without fiber connection to the internet, which already makes the 'always online' function in some latest games, or downloading chunks of content a pain to deal with.

That's like $570 today, just absurd, and the library wasn't even that crazy, the graphics were amazing but I'm getting second-hand buyer's remorse imagining kids who pressured their parents to get them one and then basically never touched it

The industry is definitely going digital, alot of games dont even work without an internet connection. I know COD MW2/3 doesn't even have data on the physical disc, i think like 7 gigs of audio is on the disc, the actual game has to be downloaded, even though you have the disc
Super anti-consumer

Every story online basically goes "yea I got a Neo Geo, with one game, and I never bought another game" its that or some dude who was a grown man blowing his checks on Neo Geo games and reaping the benefits now by selling them.

Exactly this. I'm on a 1mbps line, downloading 30GB+ games not an option for me
