V is a classic just like the other GTA titles

V at launch wasn’t a classic maybe updates changed it though

Looks like Samson will not be contending with this

  • IV felt like a Scorcese movie and the shooting psychics were more satisfying!

V was more of a BLOCKBUSTER, beautiful, "funner" game

Love them both but prefer IV!

Hopefully VI can strike a nice balance between them both, but it will be a whole new thing..... can't even imagine

Well if they didn’t have the 3 player gimmick they could have more of the previous mechanics

What are you talking about? V brought those mechanics back after it was missing in IV

Gang wars and more rpg mechanics is what I’m talking about . Ability to do random house robberies too

When V gets it’s flowers after VI drops

I think Rockstar is going to learn from the criticisms of V/their experience from RDR2 and have a serious plot with the goofiness and vulgarity turned down

Years from now before VII drops, I think IV is going to have the dedicated fanbase it has now. VI is going to be recognised as the "best" of the 3 with its updated graphics, gameplay and (my assumption) heavy plot. V is going to be championed by some whose first GTA game was V but other than that, the consensus is going to be "Online was lit but the single player is terrible"

Crazy because of its success but I think V is eventually going to end up being a dark horse for someone's favorite GTA game

One mechanic I loved in IV and missed in V was the ability to chase after criminals if you stole a cop car Other than that, I couldn't remember missing much in V. House robberies felt gimmicky in SA, can't imagine how Rockstar would execute it in 2013

Idk, most people also enjoyed the single player in GTA V. Nobody said it's terrible except some die hard stans. You can also not compare IV with V lol

yea I just hated how short it was and it lacked alot of consistency in the plot. Characters werent dynamic. Even CJ had range

Coincidentally just seen your reply to someone about V in the Unpopular Opinions thread I do think the single player in V is overhated by some people but the plot really is mid imo

Over time, more and more people have switched up and criticised the single player. I think it's going to get even worse when GTA VI drops and people have something "better" that's fresh in their minds to compare it to

You got a bunch of gamers already saying they prefer IV over V. After VI drops, those same people are probably going to put it above V, maybe even IV. Then you have the people who grew up on V and currently love it (maybe it's even the only GTA game they've ever played) who are gonna consider VI better. At the end, I don't think we're gonna have a lot of people saying "V > IV and VI", V is gonna end up being 2nd or 3rd for most people

Why do you think they can't be compared?

IV is easily better when we only talk about story but everything else is in V better imo

The story in V is entertaining too but the plot is unfortunately pretty undercooked and Rockstar never releasing DLCs for this is probably the main reason why it's probably not perfect tbh but it's still a classic

VI will be leagues better than V but here's the same problem with IV and V. You can't compare V with VI... V dropped in 2013. We're living in very very different times and RDR2 was already 100 times better than V

Agreed. But the pre launch hype itself was. The shaky cam leaked gameplay on Vine & file sites before the street date

Yeah V gameplay is so much better it's not even close. Didn't mind the driving in IV at all tho, unlike most

Been playing through GTA 4 the past week, amazing game and honestly I do think it has a better and more fleshed out story than GTA 5 although I agree that it was a stepback from SA functionally

I will say, three leaf clover is one of the best GTA missions ever, and revisiting Liberty City with the Fusion Fix mod was really cool

I agree. IV plot is better but V does literally everything else better. That's why I can't cosign calling IV the best in the series, it's just lacking too much compared to the others. VC to 4 to SA would feel like progression, VC to SA to 4 feels like regression

I disagree about the comparison thing. By that logic, people can't compare BotW and OoT

I played through some of it on 360 then started playing it on PC with those QoL mods a couple days ago to the same point in the story

I think i might continue playing it on 360 because that’s the original platform although I like the improvements on PC

  • I wonder how that planned IV remake would’ve turned out if it didn’t get scrapped after the definitive edition flopped
