No. It's only because it's so hyped that they can get away with it. Only other game that can maybe get away with it is the new elder scrolls or a faithful MW2 remaster

thegamecollection.net in the UK usually sells games a lot cheaper than if you would have got them digitally.
Honestly, before my PC I kinda refused to buy games digitally cause of how much cheaper I could get them + having the ability to sell once I'm done

$100 for an ultimate edition of a game that is going to presumably receive content updates for many years to come vs. a yearly sports game
Updates will only keep coming if GTA Online generates enough money. This has nothing to do with the base price. Just look at Red Dead Redemption 2 and how quickly they abandoned its online mode despite selling millions of copies at full price.
