Showed my gf the trailer for the first time, after I mentioned something looked off about the graphics

She immediately pointed out that every single female character model looks untextured

The male character models feature blemishes, crow's feet, pores, discoloration, whereas the female models render the absolute bare minimum of detail (e.g. smile lines, small wrinkles to show age)

She said the females look like airbrushed plasticine dolls compared to the men and the contrast is jarring

I think that's what destroyed the immersion for me: it's a stylistic choice applied inconsistently

    Why would Rockstar do this?

actually agree but that'll be cleared up by now. by the time the game drops, maybe even by the time trailer 2 is out, the faces will probably be way more detailed.

early trailer compared to game in rdr2 trailers

    trailer on the right

    early trailer on the left

But this is specifically for the female faces, which makes it seem like it's a stylistic choice, not a matter of early build

It’s just cause it’s early development man . Things like that are added later in development when they use resources on everything else you saw like the hair physics

Faces especially in a third person game comes later because you often don’t see faces close outside of cutscenes or first person mode

All stuff you saw in trailer gets updated with new renders damn nearly weekly

Men don’t have make up or many other factors also there is a larger focus on making the women look attractive in a game where people pride themselves on buying a prostitute

Lucia had clear wrinkles at certain parts of the trailer.

    Seems like an overthink.

  • Just watched the trailer and Lucia face look like the same level of detail as Jason's, she just got clearer skin. Every NPC has that GTA 5 clay looking skin

    Game will be a flop?

  • Nov 9, 2024

The trailer dropped this time last year, and the game isn’t dropping till next fall

Rockstar has 2 entire years to perfect the models bruh lol

There's so many ways the NPCs can be varied that the previous games haven't done if I remember correctly.

Different heights - really tall, super short
Different weight - skinny, muscular, kinda muscular, obese, kinda chubby

New trailer might've had some of tha

People with casts on their arms, on crutches, or wheelchairs, pregnant women etc would all be dope, just to have some variation if it wasnt a GTA game. Unfortunately it is so it limits the type of people they can have as to not offend anyone Only thing that should be off limits is kids

They do look a bit more varied in the trailer like I said but I get it's an action free roa, violent do what you want game and even for GTA there needs to be restrictions.

Lmao was high when I typed this not even gon fix it

I'm more worried about the game still controlling like a PS3 era game

Lol I know that's why I was saying those were basically the types of NPCs I'd like to see if it wasn't a violent game like GTA. Hopefully one day a open world game that doesn't focus on letting you kill or harm whoever you want can add this type of variety

Superhero games could easily implement this I think. I like the premise
