I hate this guy but he’s going to be one of the most influential politicians this decade in regards to law-making policy. I will update this thread somewhat regularly.

in the US he's definitely not wrong. like it or not, as far as republican policymaking goes, DeSantis has essentially spearheaded policy and forced other GOP governors to follow suit, and has largely created culture war lines within the party (and externally) himself through policy put in place. All of those anti-CRT, education regulation, anti-trans kids, anti-protestor, etc. laws originate with DeSantis and have been massively influential within the fabric of the GOP. You can even go further back to COVID and discuss anti-lockdown policies of which were unpopular even in the GOP at the time. Even more moderate republicans like youngkin have followed suit in terms of the education regulatory policies and were a large reason for his victory to begin with.

DeSantis got popular for his policies during Covid. But he’s just culture war this culture war that dadada. I doubt he influences anything beyond Florida. If Trump comes into the debates in top form he’s going to completely embarrass this clown.

Wallace opposed desegregation and supported the policies of "Jim Crow" during the Civil Rights Movement, declaring in his 1963 inaugural address that he stood for "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever"

Opposing even the honest discussion of segregation is almost as bad as what Wallace was doing because it’s the only thing Wallace did you could still do today
