Imagine not being able to read. Royce is saying that he himself cares about the song whereas Eminem is more concerned about being out-rapped.

Old Eminem used to skate on a beat like it was nothing, still rap his ass off and make good music.

This man has been doubted his whole life even being the most successful rapper he has to prove himself in every song or track, see it from his perspective,if he's featured in any Rapper his only aim is to outrap as a battle rapper he's keeping that feeling alive

Some tracks call for that. It's not like Eminem was ever a great songwriter. His production was questionable. Hooks were questionable. Dude always survived on quotables. His gimmick just got stale like 15 years ago.

But he’s been outrapped many times already, so throw this whole narrative away or retire.

Em thought Kendrick was using a ghostwriter.

I personally think Eminem came through in the last verse but yeah Kendrick gave him run for his money nonetheless ,it's a sport I'm not saying he's invincible . I'm just saying some popstars fans need to realise his mentality will always be of a battle Rapper. And that story of Eminem checking if Kendrick has ghostwriters or not is twisted. Here's what Kendrick said himself.

    Interviewer: It’s just you two?
It’s not even him. He gives your space. I took as him kicking everybody out to see if that’s really you writing them raps. That s*** writing. When I’m the booth, and he’s walking in, then all done with the verse, I mean actually rapping it. He runs out like he don’t want to hear it.

I agree with you. I don’t have any criticism regarding what you said.

Though I’m referencing the Ed Sheeran interview from 2017.

But Kendrick says in the interview you posted: “The thing with Em which was crazy to me is he kicks everybody out of the studio... I took it as him kicking everybody out to see if it's really you writing those raps that you're writing."

Em definitely recognised lyrical talent. I just think his suspicions are borderline paranoia and strange gatekeeping (at least to me but he’s obviously more important and influential and invested in the culture than I am).

Competition in sport is supposed to be healthy. Being outrapped should motivate you to be better. Learn from your losses.. Not shy away from releasing music you appear worse on.
This does not apply to battle rap and disses though, I recognise that. Royce just wanted music out.

  • Apr 6, 2020

Eminem would make a good battle rapper, just going acapella, but this is no surprise. Been saying this since at least 2013

It's not like Royce makes great music now. He did kill Em on some BME tracks tho.

Em needs to take his music more seriously but also relax with them syllables and make something more enjoyable.
