I like the direction/idea of what he’s trying to do, it makes sense with the plot. I just don’t get his commentary on “ouuuu this is gonna be the biggest walk out” “ouuuuu now you’re stuck wit your thoughts, get it????”

Just make your film how you see fit and let it talk for you. You shouldn’t be explaining the themes and plot devices before the film has even came out.

From the perspective of a kid, I get it being they are more impatient at a younger age. But you shouldn’t be having to convince us of “ahhhh see what I’m doing??? Genius huh???”

If you want us to be in the head space of your character just make the film and see if it works or not. Trying to convince us before hand isn’t gonna work.

yeah all jokes aside, this is an issue with some of these mainstream modern auteurs, theyre so focused on what their film is going to do to the audience or how its going to perform. to the point where they are manufacturing moments with each film having to go further and further with "affecting the audience" or whatever. theyre so insecure that they don't even make movies as self expression anymore and take on this role of the collective consciousness but its so self serving and misguided that they end up being more out of touch than anything else
