Any of my fellow book readers itt might enjoy reading a book called Binge Times. Just finished it and it’s a pretty awesome history of the major streaming services and all the behind the scenes business doings that made them each what they are to this point

So can someone explain to me, what would happen if HBO Max merges with Discovery+, whats the difference?

Basically HBO Will become a tab on Discovery+

The real downside comes when it comes to content

They’re shelving things that have already been shot and almost finished so they can get tax write offs

Basically the bad thing is that any creative that works with them has to worry about their project never seeing the light of day because it won’t “generate enough revenue”

nawww bruh they not greenlighting anymore projects that will get shelved they shelving s*** leftover from the old warner bros yall overreacting

there was always a concern from HBO people that HBO Max was diluting and tarnishing the HBO brand itself by adding so much other s*** under the HBO name so maybe its a good thing long term?

chris pratt garfield will generate more revenue than batgirl ever would have

Yeah absolutely tbh, there was so much ass when it came to HBO Max original content, but I knew a bunch of people who would be hyped for stuff like "oh it's HBO it should be good right!" and I'd have to explain not necessarily, it's a Max production

This will only make things clearer imo in terms of branding
