the thing about that video going around on twitter is that it's not even about t he video itself really

you know -- and dont immediately jump down my throat -- but i can see how maybe it would be good to spread such a video so that it could shock the conscience of our society. like emmett till's mom wanting an open casket funeral and the pictures publicized to show people the real face of white supremacist violence. whatever it is you think is wrong about society that enabled takeoff's death, maybe a video of a dead migo would help spark a cleansing prairie fire of change

but the thing is ppl just watch the video and it really barely makes a dent at all. they just take it in as homogenous "content" and maybe post a "take" or two and then go on with their day. not unfeeling either -- it makes people sad, for sure -- but with a reduced capacity to synthesize those feelings into something that recognizes, as someone said upthread, that this is a real person, its different from seeing someone "die" in the Netflix dahmer show or on a video game. there is just too much sensory stimulus for any bit to really have the impact that, for instance, that photo of Emmett Till did in 1955.

I think the Emmett Till a***ogy was pretty valid tbf.
