praying they can bounce back from rh3 which has its moments but wasnt at all close to the first two
Still a great flick though
Rebooting a classic movie franchise because some racist president wants to see a 4th installment. You know how f***ing stupid that sounds?
A rush hour in 2025 would be AWFUL for so many reasons
1) chris tucker was already washed in 3 (yeah the lines they wrote for him sucked, his delivery was WORSE) imagine him now
2) none of the racist buddy cop humor from back then would fly now
3). Comedy sequels are the worst movies out these days, Beverly Hills cop 4 only exception I can think of was ok for what it was but my god coming to America 2, Zoolander 2 meet parents 2 etc
4) if the narrative around the movie is trump wanted it made a large portion of ppl will avoid it just to own trump

A movie greenlit at the request of a racist, by a studio ran by racists, who are on record saying they want to create more movies that appeal to racists.
I don’t think we have to worry about any missing poorly aged race humor 💪

Cautiously in. I mean, idk if it's gonna hit the same. It's like getting a Friday part 4 movie with Chris back as Smokey
it probably won't hit the same. just like how happy Gilmore 2 didn't hit the same. idk how to explain it, but old classics from the 90's need to be left alone.
was it ever said exactly why trump wanted this movie green lit? some posts itt are speculating but nothing confirmed

David Ellison’s $8bn takeover of Paramount, approved last week by Donald Trump’s media regulator, capped a year-long pursuit and vaulted the movie producer into the top tier of Hollywood power.

“Rush Hour 4” is in the works, with Paramount on board to distribute the newest installment in the buddy-cop series. The long-gestating sequel is reportedly the beneficiary of some Oval Office intervention: President Donald Trump had personally requested that the studio revive the franchise, as first reported by Semafor.
Brett Ratner, who directed the first three installments before his career was derailed in 2017 by #MeToo allegations, is returning to direct the fourth film. The filmmaker has gotten close to the first family while directing the “Melania” documentary, which Amazon paid $40 million to release.

Intriguing deal at an intriguing time: The David Ellison-owned Paramount is one of the bidders for Warner Bros Discovery. This is arguably the studios’ first team-up since Ellison took control of the Melrose Avenue lot and follows a moment when all WBD bids were due last week (Netflix and Comcast are the other suitors).

So if I’m understanding this correctly, trump is friends with rartner so he’s doing him a favor by helping to release rh4? & because he’s also doing his wife’s documentary as a bonus?
& if trump is also doing this to help make rather look better after the SA stuff years back, I don’t think releasing this will do that.

A power move by Trump for Hollywood to pay attention and expand his media influence with his buddy Ellison
Also a f*** you to the whole #MeToo movement, showing public support to those who stand up for him
Rush Hour is one of my favorite films but 1. this doesn't need to happen and 2. i'm boycotting. Gross display of power. Brett Ratner got ran out of Hollywood for preying on people. And now he pops back up with the backing of Trump's puppet studio and Trump's support.
Wouldn't have been that mad if they tried a remake. Also not surprised Trump wants to push for some revitalization of this type of comedy
Just odd this obsession with Rush Hour 4.... Jackie is 71 and hasn't been a U.S. box office guy in over a decade..and Chris Tucker is in his mid 50s and barely has been in films the last decade. This quickly turned into the worst case for a reboot

Feel like if it got made it would get dumped straight to streaming like Eddie murphys last 2 sequels
Comedies are hard enough to sell at theaters let alone nostalgia money grabs

Damn
Trump’s involvement in a classic movie franchise & politicking around it doesn’t even seem right
Don’t get involved, & better yet…don’t release it at all.

This is a sad reality.

For what its worth, I completely forgot Jackie did that odd Karate Kid movie recently which merged the two iterations and followed up Cobra Kai. Pretty sure it performed solid too. That's still just an action flick tho
They're pretty much relying on us + older gen to show up for this. I do hope there is some come back for the genre theatrically, it just can't possibly stem from the elderly doing a reboot film after 2 decades.

Don't you know frowning on sexual harrassment is woke...
