Idk I always felt like when critics did that it was subconsciously an effort to stagnate the artist progression simply by reminding them they can’t exist in a place without their pain characterizing them of course honestly/vulnerability is key but summing up the entire black experience and expression solely to trauma is highkey insensitive or even when a black artist subvert preconceived ideas in their respective genres it’s usually shunned and that’s can break an artist spirit causing them to conform. It’s like folks don’t want us to know that we’re capable of being greater than we are I hate seeing squandered potential in order to survive in a space controlled by folks that should even be dictating what this culture is and our people thinking they gotta shoot below their belt because of that s***s tragic watch they call him sensitive for speaking on that unjust logic tho like they did noname
