The beat? The lyrics? Someone on here once said they have to be from the south….
Idk I don’t want to play gatekeeper. I think if it has a trap-like beat or lyrics about trapping it’s trap. I don’t think it needs to be both. But then the Rodeo argument still confuses me just cuz it doesn’t feel like a trap album
A majority of new rappers that folks consider trap be rapping more about doing d**** then sellin em. Trap has evolved beyond the lyrics imo, it's a whole sound now. Any other big genre of music goes based on sounds anyway so it makes sense trap ended up this way as it got bigger

I never considered beats to be "trap" beats. I considered the lyrics to make something trap or not. I think that short time "edm trap" was popping confused everybody. And nerds making wikipedias about it and s*** solified it
