it never gets old seeing the main reason some didn't like this was because it made them stressed

saw it was trending on twitter and these are legit most of the complaints for why its bad lolll

i felt the same way, first 30 minutes i hated it cause i was waiting for a break but soon as i accepted there's no break i f***ed with it so hard

I feel that. Just the idea of saying something was bad because it inflicted a feeling in you you didn’t want is funny to me

Good on you for doing this during the actual movie also

"Holy s*** I'm gonna cum". My exact thoughts when I see some beautiful art or listen to good music. Always thought it'd be weird saying it out loud

this was imo what made it most effective. the film does a good job of mimicking what it feels like to be in the clutches of a very long and very intense gambling binge. the feeling of 'motion' and unceasing adrenaline is exactly what it feels like and it's a terrifying feeling for the participant knowing something devastating is waiting for them at the end. i watched this film with my mom and every 5 minutes she turned to me and complained about how much she wasn't enjoying it. emotional whiplash for sure. and then at the end when adam sandler's character gets shot in the face she cheered out loud in the theater

i think for me the biggest flaw was that adam sandler's character was so incredibly unlikable it was hard for me to connect with the film at all. in Good Time there's a genuine pathos to the main character that made me root for him and in Uncut Gems it was the complete opposite.

Yeah, as selfish as Connie is, ultimately we root for him out of our own love for his brother.

There was nothing similar in Uncut Gems — which I also really liked, but doesn’t come near Good Time imo

With the single redeeming quality being his love for his brother - which is also the driving force behind his actions in the film. The driving force behind Sandler's character is greed and the complete disregard for everyone else in his life. There doesn't even seem to be a moment of pause or contemplation on his part for how he's completely f***ed over everyone around him.

And maybe that is a parable for addiction and its destructive qualities. But I would have liked to see just a little more nuance. Then again that's just my opinion.
