    Explain why it’s dumb

Without the Earth the human race literally can not exist. Our bodies are connected to Earth in every sense of the word. Humans could not survive on any other planet, even if it had air and water. Even a minor change in our environment would make our species go totally extinct. To say that you would choose humans over the Earth they live on is like saying you would choose eggs over chicken. One literally can not exist without the other.

The Earth is not a living organism, don’t get it twisted. It’s just the place where living organisms live, and we should respect it because of it. But don’t put the Earth above humanity. If we had to choose between humans and the Earth, we should kill the Earth.

Are you sure? I think technology can enable humanity to live outside the Earth. I’m not saying we are there yet but people are working on it

No. Technology as we know it right now will not make us able to live on other planets for extended periods of time without our biology and DNA being altered first. We’ve been on Earth for over 3.5 Billion years. Taking an Earthly lifeform off of Earth would be like taking a Brazilian plant out of the ground and replanting it in Egypt. It would die unless it’s DNA changed and it became a different plant. To survive on a different planet, we wouldn’t be human anymore. To be human is to be from Earth.

It’s almost sad that we take Earth for granted so much that we actually think we could survive without it. When the Earth dies, we will perish with it.

Technology “as we know it right now.” That’s what I meant when I said we are not there yet.

You didn’t read the whole thing. If we’re going to live on different planets we would have to change our biology, meaning we wouldn’t be human anymore. So no it is still impossible for humans to live on any other planet but Earth. Why would you want to anyway? Everything we know, love, and understand is tied to Earth.

I did read the whole thing and what I said still stands.

This “we wouldn’t be human anymore” argument is so relative though. Like what does it mean to be human? I’m not trying to get into a philosophical argument but we could say that humans have been evolving for thousands of years and will continue to evolve, it’s not like we’re at the pinnacle of humanity. Even if we stay on Earth for thousands of years more we will still continue to evolve.

Our biology and DNA will be altered. So?

All I’m saying is that if at any point in the future we had to choose between us (human beings or whatever name you want to call the future versions of ourselves) and the planet Earth, I guarantee you we will choose us.

Why do you think Elon Musk wants to send humans to Mars?

No. I wouldn’t choose us. I would choose Earth every time. The fact that you would really throw away 4.5 Billion years of development, balance, and life for a self-destructive species that hasn’t even been around for 500,000 years is very disappointing to me. This species is an extinction event. We will go extinct one day and the Earth will live on.

Fair enough. You will choose the Earth, I will choose humanity. I also think most humans will choose humanity, and I don’t think they would be making a dumb decision but hey, that’s just me, a human being.

What a dumbass response. We don’t even have another plant to have that option.
