In general I thought Mary was much more cohesive and enjoyable compared to Nebuchadnezzar. Maybe it’s that we had a program to follow, and/or that everyone is more familiar with the Xmas virgin birth Jesus story.

Not sure if we will see more operas soon or not, as Mary is the Christmas story and Nebuchadnezzar was around Thanksgiving. May be a holiday thing.

With the improvements from the first to the second (more cohesive, easier to follow, more Kanye tunes arranged, Kanye’s reading improves, etc), he could actually get really good at this imo. That said, it’s not hip hop, and yesterday in particular, people didn’t seem to know what to expect.

Shout out to Vanessa Beecroft. Seemingly they used the same personnel yesterday as at Hollywood Bowl, and the water stuff yesterday in Miami in particular was awesome, with the performers mimicking water in the puddle in the middle of the stage.

One thing that’s for sure. They could never ever make money with these type of productions. Doing it for the art. Goat.

They were reduced to $20 for bleachers and $60 for beach on Friday.

And there were only a few thousand people there, there was room for at least double that.

I’m not sure how much a barge covered in sand with a pond in the middle, multiple boats to transport dozens of performers, two large video screens in the water, costumes, venue during Art Basel, police boats, security/venue staff, sound systems, and artist/performance travel and accommodations cost but....

Pretty sure they are taking a L on every single event.

there is also like 50 performers, cost of flying everybody out, housing for all of them, Vanessa's cut. its way different than somebody doing a solo show. doubt hes making any $ from any of these sunday service or opera performances and wouldn't be surprised if hes spent millions on it
