I bet you the credits on first album are real that he ran down. 🤔

Rap a lot really wanted to keep Brad in the shadows BUT

They didn’t do that to z-ro, people forget his name on production was on half of his stuff at Rap-A-Lot. Why Joseph & not Brad who gets his producer credit removed?

  • Nov 24, 2021

You know if he revisits this and gives his real credits commentary on “The Fix” I’m going to wonder what is real at Rap-A-Lot for Scarface producer credits? He only got one co-producer track credit on that record. If they jacked Him for that?

Mike should be on the podcast and talk about why he thinks Scarface was uncredited on most of his work at Rap-A-Lot. Or maybe he has a different opinion. This is waaaaay overdue. This is something that Scarface fam scratches their head at.

7 credits on the first album? 🤯Guess who needs to go into producer hall of fame. Because I’m guessing a lot of these solo’s are the same type of finesse.

Let’s throw ⛽️ on the fire. How many producer or co- producer credits on Geto Boys lp’s did Scarface really hold down? Those credits are looking quite sketchy if he was in the studio most of the time doing music work as well.

Haven’t done enough of a deep dive to know what you’re getting @

You saying Scarface prod. Credits look funny or Mike Dean?

I don’t get the entire situation. Scarface is/should be rap a lot royalty so him not getting his full credits is like … well damn I was finna say that like Suge f***ing Dre but that kinda…happened lol

I’m saying there was a deliberate effort to kick off Scarface off the producer credits. That’s what I’m saying.

    Album after album - it’s a pattern.

labels don't like to credit artists that also produce with production bc they would get more money in royalties. I'm not really sure that's what happened with Scarface but apparently labels will push people onto your credits just so you get paid less.

Well that makes sense when you see 7 producers on one track 😳

This sort of reminds me of documentary “ standing in the shadows” (which I suggest if you haven’t seen it ) which is about Motown house band for over 2 decades supplying the music in that one small room and rarely did they see a songwriting credit.

They were just gassed up as “ you are doing a great job, boys. 😎”

The funk bros deserved more than just a Sundance acclaimed documentary. Clearly these men didn’t have any leverage in the 60’s & 70’s. But I guess if you just never put your foot down hard, this always happens. 😒

now i won't even say that bc there really are a lot of people involved in creating a song especially once you get big, producers will make a loop with 2 other guys, send it to someone like London on The Track and have him and his other friends in the studio add to it, flesh it out, structure it, then the artist hears it and puts their own embellishments on it with THEIR personal producers and by the time its out you end up with a 3% royalty because it genuinely was 10 people on the beat

I think also it has to do with controlling Brad. IMHO, if you don’t speak out loudly like a Wyclef, you can be easily wiped away as Sunday was mentioning above.

Maybe what Brad should’ve done is insist his name is there in producer credits? because he’s a central figure in the line up & it seems he was hands on with the music in the same way that Wyclef was.

I think with this latest outburst, the rap a lot producer team needs to come in & talk to Geto Boys. They kinda opened the door and now I want to see what’s in that room.

But I think it is strange how even a lot of people in rap don’t know Brad is a musician. They have no clue of his background as a child.

Again, he knows this is his fault. Because he didn’t mention it enough and he didn’t want to overshadow himself as a rapper- lyricist.
